We have been busily scheming and brainstorming and a very new project is taking shape. The concept for this three concert series, titled My Folk, has its origins in long conversations over cups of tea sharing individual joys, trials and struggles. We are so very happy that harpist/singer Claire Patti has agreed to join us for My Folk: Current Climates. This concert will weave together original and local works expressing conflict and change, hope and despair, passion, confusion and protest.
Keep an eye on the My Folk page to watch the project unfold, and click on the image below to hear Claire and Lou's small 2020 iso-collaboration. This small video was created by Claire's beloved husband and musician, Marcus de Rijk, just weeks before his tragic death. Marc's loving, kind and generous spirit continues in their precious daughter Daisy.

BFLF feels so fortunate to have had the chance to gather with friends and family for house concerts made possible by the generous and joyful spirit of two amazing couples (Tanya & Vince Bradley, and Lucy Wise & Mischa Herman). And, as always, photographer Adam Purcell (Melbourne Ceili Camera) was there documenting the people that make up our small corner of Australia's vibrant and robust cultural community. Check out Adam's work here.
And the last word: There is nothing better than Evan Davies on banjo and Mischa Herman on accordion! (Photo captured by Jessica Foot)
It's been a while between gigs.. After the hibernation and stasis of 2020 BFLF pulled our facemasks off in slow amazement and started to meet for tea and tunes again! 🎶💞☕ It's been so good to be back. Then we get this message from Mischa Herman pitching a shared house concert tour with him and Evan Davis. Stuff.Of.Dreams. We're so honoured to join them for these two events on the 8th and 9th of May, it promises to be duo-licious. Come along!!
